We're proud custodians of a historic building, and by keeping The Crypt in regular use we help support its maintenance and upkeep for the church and wider community. As members of the Friends of St Giles committee, we are supporting planned work to make the whole building more sustainable and looking at ways of generating green energy onsite.
We reduce our use of water through staff awareness and training.
We reduce waste wherever we can, and recycle as much as possible - including soft plastics, batteries, and as much of our event and party waste as we're able to.
Hirers of the venue for private parties are asked to reduce waste and to choose sustainable options when buying decorations or equipment.
All our regular staff travel by bicycle or public transport, and we provide safe, secure bike storage on site.
We encourage customers to travel by public transport too, and publish information on Camberwell's excellent transport links on our website.
Our staff uniforms are eco-friendly.
We keep deliveries to a minimum, reducing trips to and from shops.
We stock locally brewed craft ales, and support local shops for some of our other supplies.
Our tickets, programmes and promotional material are digital rather than printed.
We have upgraded to more efficient heating and lighting, and are currently looking at more efficient fridges too.
We regularly review our environmental impact and look for ways to reduce it further.
